I helped put 8 banners on the walls (4 upstate, 2 state, 2 WG-Topaz '95, Indigo '97). My four years as a member of the RR will not soon be forgotten. The memories I have, both good and bad, are worth all of the hours that we spent in practice. My brother will be in the RR of '98 and I hope his years will be as great as mine were. We have one granddaughter who played in the band while in high school and who will graduate USCS this year. Comments: First of all GREAT JOB at the BOA Finals!!!! Not only did you represent your school, but also your home town, Spartanburg. Boiling Springs has been one of your compeditors for the last several years. This year we fell back due to the loss of our old band director to Spartan High, but we'll be back next year better than ever with our new band director. I have one more thing to say. Comments: WOW!!!! The energy we felt after coming off the field in Atlanta was just indescribable. There is no other way to describe five standing ovations. I am so proud of everyone, and I believe that this show proved that we can bounce back from any situation. I hope that we can do the same in a couple of weeks at the Grand Nationals. It was an honor to come in fifth at this last contest with the caliber of bands we were up against. Now we know that we can compete in this area of band and lets just go and have fun at Nationals. Comments: Dear Rebel Regiment, I know that yesterday's loss at the State Championships is extremely disappointing for you. I experienced something very similar my senior year with the RR (1990) when we lost to Fort Mill at state after beating them the week before. Keep your heads up and your eyes with pride. How well you bounce back from defeat is the TRUE mark of a champion, not what a few out of touch former music educators say about you. I hope each of you knows that regardless of yesterday's decision, you are still the finest band in 4A, and by a sizeable margin. You have two more shows left. These competitions can be an opportunity to show the world what the Rebel Regiment is made of, that it doesn't fold when things get tough.
