Well, that isn't true, and I am trying to find ways to prove that to them. I was thinking about showing them a video at band camp of you performing so show them that the 4A bands are just as good and big as the 5A powerhouses. I am going to buy the video from M&M productions, but it won't get here in time for band camp, so I was wondering if anyone from Byrnes would be willing send me a copy of their 1999 show or just the most dramatic song of the show. Those whom I know at Irmo have a lot of resect for Byrnes and vice-versa. I am sure there are also perhaps a few at Irmo who do not (and vice-versa). The two schools really have not competed against each other that much and I think as a result, neither band is really on the mind of the other. Irmo's big rival is Lexington. The two schools are close to each other near Columbia, SC, they are both 5A schools and thus compete with each other for the state title. But Irmo has been pretty dominant the last 6 years or so while Lexington was probably at their strongest in the late '80's and early '90's. The last couple of years Lexington has come on strong again and last year they beat Irmo at BOA but lost to them at state. This year Lexington was strong as well but Irmo won at both BOA state pretty handily. |

I think everyone who has followed marching band in the SE US in the last decade is probably aware of this as Irmo has been successful at the state, regional and national level. As a long-ago former member of the Rebel Regiment and an interested spectator, I've watch Irmo since the late 1980's and I have long been impressed with the quality of their program. I am sure everyone else involved with the Rebel Regiment appreciates Irmo's excellence. I really don't think rival is an applicable term, if only for the simple reason that the two bands don't compete against each other often. Matt Harris |

Those days were some of the best of my life. Even watching now, my eyes well up with tears because the emotions all come flooding back. I urge each of you to cherish your time in the band while you can, because your days in the RR will be gone too soon. Know that each of you is contributing something special to the band and leaving it a little bit different than it was before. Keep that special RR spirit alive, which means discipline, hard work, and loving it with every fiber of your being. Don't let this magical organization ever become just another marching band. All movies are in the MPG format(use Windows Media Player) and sound in ram(Use RealPlayer). 1. 99StateMovie.mpg - 180MB of the full SC State performance(10/30/99) about 10 or so minutes long. 2. Band Clips - Includes 40 MPG files(87MB total) of various performances of the 1999 RR(excluding BOA).. 3. Sound - Includes two audio files of the whole show(4MB). Cost is $2 to cover CDR and if you have one, just send it to me and I will "BURN"(write) it.
